The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie is the first in a series about the MacKenzie brothers. And, let me tell you, the three remaining brothers all seem interesting and I'm hoping the author can keep up the momentum. I'm very interested in seeing how she turns Hart (the oldest) into a hero; he really seemed like a creep in this one.
The heroine, Beth and the hero, Ian, were very complex characters. I was especially fond of Ian, who has some kind of Savant/Asperger syndrome. So, he isn't your standard hero and there is no miraculous cure at the end of the story.
This is a book that you are either going to hate or love, but there won't be any middle of the road. I found this particular romance story to be a very fascinating journey to a happy ending.

Hopefully he won't be a creep the way Jude Deveraux's oldest brothers were - Gavin and that one from the James River trilogy, especially!
I was confused the first fourth of the book. I was unsure if I liked the hero or heroine. They were so different from the norm, it was startling. I kept thinking, she should smack him for saying that.
I don't know what happened, but somewhere along the way, I became so engrossed in their story and the brother's revelations that I stayed up until 1:00 in the morning to finish. Loved it! Excellent book.
I can't wait to see the brother's stories, especially Hart. You could see the brief kindness in him, but he will definitely be a dark character to redeem.
