This happened with Wicked Becomes You and it just didn't work all that well for me.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05320961506471746567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4871943437128666701.post-11520785071709245892012-04-03T16:31:47.626-04:002012-04-03T16:31:47.626-04:00Dick: 3 1/2 hours, I'm impressed!! I haven't given up on this book, it is now in my TBR pile waiting for a fresh start. Love the time period.SidneyKayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15119124523795475294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4871943437128666701.post-5842431073857670202012-04-03T16:10:22.028-04:002012-04-03T16:10:22.028-04:00I usually read a book in one evening--about 3 1/2 ...I usually read a book in one evening--about 3 1/2 hours, depending. And I did like the book. I prize loyalty, myself, so perhaps that influenced my reaction. Possible spoiler coming: As the hero and the reader find out later in the book, the heroine has good reasons for both the loyalty she shows to the hero's quarry and the mistrust she shows the hero. I thought Duran handled both that background and the difficult plot well.
But, as I said, I don't find her style particularly great.

dickAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4871943437128666701.post-83536788476757521782012-04-03T11:05:32.784-04:002012-04-03T11:05:32.784-04:00Dick: So, you made it through? All kinds and levels of that supposed virtue from the religious to the political to the personal cropped up. Although Duran writes well and competently, I don't think her style alone would lead me to read her books. In fact, this book contained some indecipherable double negatives and I never did understand the necessity of the several repetitions of the word "incalescent"; heated would do.

dickdickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04528670268313808484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4871943437128666701.post-62855124509922940902012-04-03T08:03:38.966-04:002012-04-03T08:03:38.966-04:00It's nice to know I'm not alone. It's a shame because Duran is a very talented writer but I just wanted to shake Nora, the heroine throughout the book.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
